WindRiver is active in Rottweiler rescue and partners with Anchorage Animal Care and Control when Rottweilers are surrendered to the shelter. Whenever possible we adopt these dogs from the shelter and find appropriate, loving, forever homes for them. Our rescues are considered WindRiver dogs for life. They are rehomed under contract and stay microchipped to us with their new adoptive family contact information added. Below are our past rescues, now all lovingly adopted and living the life they were intended to from the beginning. Our huge thanks to all the loving families that have a WindRiver Rescue. The following dogs are not available ... they have been rescued and rehomed and are in loving forever familes.
Yukon (aka Pound Pup Pup)
Bella (aka Mum)
Zeus (aka Boss)
Boss came to us from our local shelter. He was severely malnourished but such a happy boy! With good nutrition and love he has flourished and is now in a loving forever home and looking good!
Titan (aka Kimo, aka Bodie)
In mid October, 2015, WindRiver Kennels was notified of an 11 year old male (neutered) Rottweiler at the shelter. We were able to find a fantastic foster home to care for him while we search for a forever loving home for him to spend his remaining years with. Named "Bodie" by our foster family, this boy is nothing short of happy and sweet! He seemingly has not a care in the world, friendly with other dogs, and a stump and nub wiggling butt! He does likely suffer from some arthritis in one knee and hip, but despite his stiff gait he happily will trot along. In January 2016, Bodie was adopted by a loving forever family who is already part of the WindRiver Kennels family. We are so very grateful they wanted to give him a permanent home with them and their 6 year old female Rottweiler. Now named Titan, this wonderful old gentleman adapted to his new surroundings easily and is part of a loving forever family for his remaining years!
