WindRiver has been proud to have the following dogs in our life. Each one has left an indelible mark on me, made me proud, taught me much, and helped to make me a better person. I am thankful for each day I had with them. The joy they have given me tempers the pain and loss I feel in their absence.
Chips - Chips Noble Nicoal
Chips was my first Rottweiler. Purchased at age two from a newspaper ad, she was the reason I learned about responsible breeding and all that entails. Thinking I would like to breed her, I began intensive research of what that really meant, the costs, the care, the health testing, the responsibility. After all that, I realized she was not a good candidate for breeding, but I loved her deeply nonetheless. She was my first competition obedience dog, my loyal protector always, and a squirrel chaser extraordinaire. Her loss was devastating (two bouts of bloat, the last of which took her from me) and it was years before I would get my next Rottweiler.
Ripley - Intl Ch. AKC Major Pointed, Aspengold Black River Canyon, CD, RN, BH, CGC
Although not my first Rottweiler, Ripley is the reason WindRiver Kennels exists. She instilled in me a love of the breed that could not be denied. She taught me about dog shows, obedience, rally, herding, lure coursing and all the love, happiness and joy that can be found in such a deep and loving friendship. I learned the excitement and sorrow that breeding dogs can bring. Despite never having puppies of her own, she raised five other Rottweilers in my house and taught them the important things in life. More importantly, she taught me much, loved me completely and was my constant friend. She is missed so much, and by so many. Rest in peace my sweet “Missy-Pie Girl” …. You will never be forgotten.
Magic - Aspengolds D’Magic of WndRvr, RN, CGC
Magic came to us from Aspengold Rottweilers. She was a silly girl who enjoyed life with gusto. One of my fondest memories is our road trip from Alaska to Washington with Ripley and Magic to visit friends and family and enjoy a dog show along the way. The girls had great fun romping through the wilds of Canada, hanging in hotels and meeting new people. Although she wasn’t able to fulfill the promise we all saw in her as a puppy, she captured my heart and will be forever missed.
